Laboratory Science

In modern medicine, various advanced clinical laboratory tests, such as blood tests, ultrasonography, computed tomography, and cytology, are used for precisely diagnosing diseases. Effective treatment can be performed only after the correct diagnosis is made. Therefore, highly precise and specific examinations must be developed and made widely available. This department has a curriculum through which students can acquire the knowledge and technologies required for the profession, skills for appropriate evidence-based decision-making and problem-solving, and English skills for the internationally advancing medical field. Employers after graduation are mainly hospitals and laboratories, as well as various drug manufacturers, life-science institutions, manufacturers of reagents and devices, and laboratory centers. In addition, because of its designation, the department is characterized by the fact that students earn cytologist and functional food consultant licenses. Cytologists greatly contribute to the “early detection of cancer.” A functional food consultant license is a new license indicating that qualified persons can contribute to health through their judgement of food selection and safety and food management.
